LoginID, Ipsidy integrate FIDO2 authentication with biometric identity verification to fight digital fraud
LoginID has partnered with Ipsidy to integrate FIDO2 and UAF-certified strong customer authentication with biometric identity verification to fight online fraud, the company announced.
LoginID’s FIDO platform will be integrated with Proof, Ipsidy’s mobile identity platform, for remote identity verification through mobile identity document capture, liveness confirmation and facial biometric matching of a selfie to a credential photo.
“By offering Ipsidy’s trusted identity verification services, we add a low-lift integration option for developers to seamlessly incorporate identity verification, during the end-user registration process before our FIDO2 or UAF biometric authentication is added to a user’s profile,” Simon Law, CEO of LoginID, said in the announcement. “The combined solution provides end-users with the most secure, frictionless identity verification and authentication experience on the market.”
“This strategic partnership creates a significant enhancement to the available identity authentication services and solves for many of the critical authentication requirements of customers around the world,” Phillip Kumnick, CEO and Deputy Chairman of Ipsidy, said in a prepared statement. “Binding a biometric identity under control of the enterprise with FIDO2 strong authentication creates a high assurance solution, delivered easily to any customer platform, with the highest level of accuracy and trust.”
As customers are in the habit of reusing passwords for multiple accounts, FIDO2 uses biometrics, FIDO security keys and mobile devices to enable seamless and frictionless website and application login. By mixing biometric verification and device authentication with cryptographic security, FIDO systems eliminate passwords and prevent phishing, password theft and replay attacks.
LoginID’s FIDO2 and UAF certified Strong Customer Authentication platform ensures frictionless and secure biometric logins for customers Data on Tap (dotmobile), Execuvault, NetCents, Global Asset Technology, POSconnect, and FroogalPay.
Ipsidy joined the FIDO Alliance in August to promote the use of second factors in the form of on-device biometrics or hardware tokens to perform fast identity authentication online.
