Cognitec updates biometric algorithms to tackle pandemic mask mandates

Cognitec updates biometric algorithms to tackle pandemic mask mandates

Cognitec has announced an update of its face biometrics algorithms aimed at raising accuracy levels of Cognitec’s main matching algorithm and its age estimation technology, particularly with regards to individuals wearing face masks.

“The global situation has spurred our research and development efforts for facial images with major occlusions,” commented Managing Director Alfredo Herrera.

Now, the firm has reportedly improved the technology’s effectiveness for biometric matching of partially occluded faces through advanced neural network training and a new face finder.

“We are proud to now offer our entire product line with matching and age estimation algorithms that work for images with or without facial masks with almost equal accuracy,” he added.

The update will be integrated into Cognitec’s various biometric tools and follows another one the company released last November, upgrading its FaceVACS biometric engine for higher identification of people wearing masks.
