Goodix to increase shipments of fingerprint sensors in 2016

Goodix said it expects sales from its fingerprint sensors and force touch sensors to drive growth for the company in 2016, according to a report by Digitimes.

The company’s increased production capacity of fingerprint sensors has enabled several mobile device makers in China to roll out end-market devices that integrate fingerprint authentication technology, according to industry sources.

By partnering with touch panel maker TPK Holding, Goodix has released invisible fingerprint sensor (IFS) technology which integrates a fingerprint sensor on the back of a touch panel without hindering the device’s industrial design and user experience.

In addition, the IFS-based sensor can also work on strengthened and sapphire glass.

Goodix has also worked with Alipay to implement fingerprint authentication standards as well become the exclusive provider of fingerprint authentication solutions to UnionPay International.

Upon adopting Goodix solutions for itself, UnionPay is encouraging vendors in other industries to integrate fingerprint sensor technology into their respective products or services, said sources.

Previously reported, Goodix has been named as a CES 2016 Innovation Awards honoree for two of its products demonstrating outstanding design and engineering.
