Costain works with HRS on London Bridge Station security

Costain Group, one of United Kingdom’s leading providers of engineering solutions, has recently chosen biometrics solution provider Human Recognition Systems (HRS) for the deployment of its MSite solution at London Bridge Station. The station is currently slated for a complete renovation.

Costain, being the main contractor, was provided £400million for the redevelopment of the station in late 2011. The engineering solutions provider in turn selected HRS as their project partner to implement enhanced security solutions.

HRS will deploy its leading biometric site solution with 15 access points and 18 CCTV cameras to adhere with Costain’s strict security solution requirements for the station.

The London Bridge Station project is one of several Costain construction projects where the firm has collaborated with HRS to deliver their MSite security solution.

Nick Wilkinson, HRS Construction Business Unit Manager, stated: “It is with great pride that Human Recognition Systems builds on their existing deployments of MSite across the Costain group. On each Costain project there has been a unique requirement or challenge and London Bridge is no different. The project covers a large geographical footprint with 15 turnstiles as well as office doors controlled by a combination of biometrics and proximity cards supplemented by CCTV coverage of the entire site. Costain was able to award the contract with confidence due to HRS’ unique level of demonstrable experience in successful deployments to some of the largest and most complex construction projects to have been undertaken in the UK.”

The London Bridge Station renovation project is expected to begin in 2013, and expected completion is slated for 2018. It is strongly anticipated that the redevelopment of the UK’s fourth busiest transit station will enable better service to passengers.
