Life Technologies Corporation, a global biotechnology company, announced last week that is has completed a DNA testing manufacturing facility in Beijing, China.

Its new DNA testing kit named GlobalFiler will offer forensics labs speedy access to the world’s leading human identification (HID) technology.

“China continues to be a key growth market for Life Technologies as we continue to expand our operations and product offerings across the country,” said Gregory T. Lucier, Chairman and CEO of Life Technologies.

Lucier added, “According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, biotech is a strategic and emerging industry for China and our investment in this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is another example of our on-going commitment to support our Chinese forensic partners in new and expanded ways.”

Life Technologies has played a key role in China to create one of the largest DNA databases in the world.

More than 400 crime labs within China have implemented database programs and with the supervision of the Ministry of Public Security, China has established its spot as a world leader in using DNA testing as a main tool of combating crime.

According to Dr. Siddhartha Kadia, President of Life Technologies, “Our goal is to quickly respond to the demands of our Chinese customers, and we have met that challenge by providing them with locally manufactured, cutting-edge DNA testing tools to support crime fighting in the country more effectively.”

Will China’s advancement in DNA testing solutions be able to assist other countries in fighting crimes?
