The FIDO Alliance has just unveiled its plans for Mobile World Congress, set to take place in Barcelona later this month, from Feb. 24-27, 2014.

This is a big event, but there’s been quite a lot of chatter about MWC this year, as it’s rumored that Samsung will unveil its new mobile device – the Galaxy S5.

According to the FIDO Alliance, members will demonstrate FIDO Ready products, based on FIDO specifications. These solutions will have all undergone interoperability testing against the draft specification.

“At Mobile World Congress, FIDO Alliance members will engage the global mobile community in our important quest for universal strong authentication. Like the Internet, the mobile industry is limited until strong authentication standards are ubiquitous. Trust is foundational to mobile markets – mobile users who can trust that the products and services they use are secure and private will organically push markets for more,” Michael Barrett, president of the FIDO Alliance said.

“With FIDO authentication, mobile services and products become easier to use with authentication that is simple, yet more secure and private than passwords and PINs.”

The group has also announced two particular speaking and networking events throughout MWC. Of particular note is a panel discussion on Feb. 25, called “Why the Market Chooses Digital Identity Solutions.” This panel will be lead by Sebastien Taveau, Synaptics Chief Evangelist.

Another panel, “Developing the Ecosystem for Mobile Identity Services,” on Feb. 27, will feature FIDO Alliance board members Nok Nok Labs and Synaptics in a joint presentation introducing the FIDO Alliance to MWC business leaders. Speakers Rajiv Dholakia, VP, Products, Nok Nok Labs and Bret Sewell, SVP, Marketing & Business Development, Synaptics will be presenting.

FIDO Alliance members participating with FIDO Ready products and services at MWC include AGNITiOInfineon TechnologiesNok Nok Labs, and NXP Semiconductors.

The FIDO Alliance has announced a number of new members recently. This week, VoiceVault joined the alliance, and in January, RSA joined and was appointed to the Board of Directors.
