Precise Biometrics appoints corporate marketing manager, issued patent

 

Precise Biometrics has named Daniel Edlund corporate marketing manager and member of its management team, which comes as part of an increased focus on sales.

“Daniel will play an important role in furthering strengthening our commercial position and offering to our customers,” says Precise Biometrics president and CEO Håkan Persson, who was just recently appointed himself.

Edlund has over 10 years of experience within marketing and communications from the information and telecommunications industry.

He most recently served as affairs & communications director at Huawei Technologies in the Nordic region.

Persson joins the rest of Precise Biometrics’ management team, which includes CEO and president Håkan Persson, COO Patrik Lindeberg, CFO Patrik Norberg, and corporate counsel Anna Herdenber.

Precise Biometrics provides a range of fingerprint recognition solutions to companies and government agencies all over the world. The company’s technology is licensed to nearly 160 million users.

Reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, Precise Biometrics recently published its Q1 2014 results, racking up net sales of US$1.1 million.

Precise Biometrics also reported it has recently been issued patent number 8749970 for a security apparatus for attaching to an electronic device.

Originally filed on November 16, 2011, the patent’s inventors are Rutger Petersson (Malmo, Sweden); Patrik Lindeberg (Lund, Sweden); Anders Ruuswik (Vellinge, Sweden); Michael Harris (Westminister, Maryland).

According to the details of the patent published online, “the apparatus for attaching to an electronic device, where the electronic device comprises an electrical connector, a back side, a display arranged on a side opposite to the back side, and lateral sides connecting the back side and the side opposite to the back side is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a first body; an electrical connector; a slot for insertion of a smartcard; a fingerprint reader; and circuitry connected to the electrical connector.”

Precise Biometrics currently holds more than 74 different patents and a line of products that offers solutions used by US government agencies, national ID card programs, global enterprises, and other organizations requiring multi-factor strong authentication.
