Suprema launches fingerprint scanner SDK for Android OS

Suprema announced it has launched a fingerprint scanner software development kit for Android OS, which is specially designed for use with Suprema’s BioMini Slim fingerprint scanner.

The company said the fingerprint scanner SDK for Android OS assures the same level of performance as its SDK for desktop computers.

The SDK enables mobile devices to capture fingerprints under varying environmental conditions as well as direct sunlight of up to 100,000 LUX.

The new SDK performs at a high speed of 15 frames per second, allowing it to support a ‘Live Preview’ in the verification process. As a result, BioMini Slim is able to work with a large selection of applications.

Suprema is also offering a free mobile Android app to BioMini Slim users, which includes product and technology information and the product demonstration.

The app can be found and downloaded in the Google Play Store by searching “Suprema” or “Suprema Fingerprint Solution”.

“As is the case with other applications, tablets and smartphones are replacing desktops or notebooks as a platform to collect and verify biometric identity. In the near future, we expect to see even more integration of biometrics and mobility,” said Young S. Moon, VP of Suprema. “Suprema expects the new SDK for Android will offer strong support in growing the biometrics and ID solutions markets.”

BioMini Slim has both FBI-PIV and mobile ID FAP 20 certifications. The device features IP65 rated dust and waterproof form factor, an ergonomic design, and includes Suprema’s latest 500dpi slim optical sensor and advanced live finger detection technology.
