Morpho to provide biometric e-border solution to UAE

Morpho (Safran), through eIMASS, has won a new e-Border management contract from the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates.

Under the e-Border contract, Morpho will implement a fully integrated multi-biometric border control system, which will include the delivery of 96 e-Gates and 94 e-Counters, in five major airports across the UAE, starting with Abu Dhabi airport in spring 2015.

The multi-biometric border control system is backed by Morpho’s Finger on the Fly technology, which provides a fast, touchless method of capturing fingerprints via a simple wave of the hand.

Morpho’s Finger on-the-Fly provides major advances in both speed and accuracy, while avoiding any potential hygiene issues.

Additionally, the e-Border project will offer iris and face recognition for border control using Morpho Iris at a Distance cameras, which have an operational capture time of less than 1 second for simultaneous capture of iris and face.

The MorphoWay e-Gates provide a high level of security, while expediting wait times for travelers in airport border control. The devices can be used by travelers at both entry to and exit from the UAE.

Expanding on the e-Border pilot program in 2012 in Abu Dhabi, the new fully integrated border control system seamlessly interfaces with the existing Ministry of Interior systems, such as the Visa Enrollment Centers for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“This contract solidifies our long-standing working relationship with the police and border authorities of the UAE,” said Philippe Petitcolin, chairman and CEO of Morpho. “We believe that our partnership is a truly winning combination, and one that will make a positive contribution to the future of border control in the UAE.”
