EyeLock announced today Michael Petrov, Ph.D, has been appointed Vice President of Engineering as part of the company’s overall strategy to enhance engineering capabilities throughout the organization and build on the momentum it’s generating in the biometrics space. Petrov’s initial focus will be the access control segment of the business.

Petrov brings more than 20 years experience in high tech and an extensive background in biometric identity management with experience across multiple markets including document issuance, aviation systems, integrated solutions and mobile biometrics. Most recently he acted as Managing Director at Vision-Box U.S.

“EyeLock is proud to welcome Michael to the team and is looking forward to the new insight and leadership he is going to bring,” said Jeff Carter, EyeLock’s CEO. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his superb technical experience to EyeLock.”

“I am excited to join EyeLock, a premier name in the U.S. biometric identity industry, at the time when the product portfolio expands and matures,” added Petrov. “The fully automated iris capture mechanism of EXT is also a significant step forward in improving the human-machine interface factor of biometric devices. I am impressed with the technological capability of the company, the people here and the breadth of our IP portfolio.”

The company is also building a more structured sales team. In June they added Nick LaBella as its new Vice President of Sales.
