Fingerprint Cards tech featured in new Acer Chromebooks, RBS biometric payment card trial

Fingerprint Cards has revealed that Acer’s new enterprise Chromebook 714 and Chromebook 715 each feature the FPC1145 fingerprint sensor for an extra layer of corporate and end user security.

The Swedish biometrics company also reports the Gemalto biometric payment card being used in the Royal Bank of Scotland trial uses Fingerprint Cards’ T-shape sensor module and software platform for payments. Nineteen trials of contactless biometric payment cards have featured FPC sensors.

According to Fingerprint Cards’ annual report for 2018, in-display fingerprint sensors for the smartphone market will be a prioritized area of research and development for the company, even as the company diversifies its focus to secure share in the emerging markets for biometric smart cards and automotive and embedded sensors.
