Fingerprint Cards biometric tech deployed in three new smartphones

Fingerprint Cards revealed today that its FPC1145, FPC1035 and FPC1291 fingerprint sensor technology has been deployed in three new smartphone models released by three different unnamed Japanese OEMs.

So far this month Fingerprint Cards has announced the release of 12 new smartphones featuring its biometric technology and the shipment of its one billionth fingerprint sensor.

In his comments on the company’s recent earnings report CEO Christian Fredrikson disclosed that the company is planning a new sensor generation based on its FPC1511 sensor, and that it will be a major part of Fingerprint Cards’ portfolio of capacitive sensors for 2019.

Last week Jonas Nilsson, Fingerprint Cards Product Manager, wrote a company blog that takes a closer look at how the changing size and performance of biometrics came to transform the smartphone market, and what that means for new form factors.
