Lumidigm M-Series fingerprint sensors from HID Global certified for presentation attack detection

HID Global has announced that its Lumidigm M-Series multispectral biometric imaging solutions have achieved a perfect score in ISO/IEC 30107-3 Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) standard level 1 testing, indicating excellence in anti-spoofing and liveness detection.

Like Lumidigm’s V-Series sensors, the M-Series detected 100 percent of spoof attempts and correctly authenticated all authorized users it tests by iBeta Quality Assurance. iBeta’s tests are certified by NIST’s NVLAP.

“HID’s proven V-Series multispectral technology was the first fingerprint product to receive a perfect score in the most stringent certification test in the world, and now we have extended that certification to our M-Series devices,” said Michael Chaudoin, Vice President of Product Marketing, Extended Access Technologies business area with HID Global. “This is the most important certification for those needing independent validation that their biometric solution meets a very specific set of liveness-detection standards with the lowest tolerance for failures.”

M-Series sensors provide risk-appropriate security for time and attendance, single sign on, physical access control, and other applications that do not require the full range of advanced features of V-Series sensors, according to the announcement. In addition to NIST-compliant liveness detection, the Lumidigm sensors provide reliable capture in harsh real-world environments, such as when fingers are wet, dry, or damaged.
