Two Austrian card issuers choose Entersekt authentication tech to secure ecommerce payments

Leading card issuers in Europe’s DACH region have integrated authentication technology from Entersekt implemented by its regional partner Netcetera to strengthen security of ecommerce payments. Bank-Verlag and two leading Austrian card issuers are deploying 3-D Secure to improve user experience in digital services.

Customers use biometric fingerprint authentication on their bank’s mobile app to approve payments. The authentication solution ensures PSD2 (Payment Services Directive Part 2) compliance for a seamless checkout experience. Entersekt’s authentication solution reduces shopping cart abandonment, increases transaction value and reduces card-not-present fraud, the company claims.

Netcetera finalized the 3-D Secure rollout by September 14, 2019, the original PSD2 deadline. The European Banking Authority (EBA) agreed in July to grant a deadline extension for the implementation of strong customer authentication (SCA) in accord with the EU’s Payment Services Directive Part 2 (PSD2), so online vendors in Europe could remain compliant while finalizing their adoption of biometrics and other authentication factors.

“Experience counts when tight deadlines and project complexity raise the stakes,” said Uwe Härtel, Central Europe country manager at Entersekt. “We are extremely proud of our track record with Netcetera, and we look forward to collaborating on many more implementations, enabling financial services providers to meet consumer demand and their own compliance objectives quickly and painlessly.”

Entersekt and Netcetera have more than 10 years of experience in card payment security.

“We are proud of our solutions, which always rank among the first products to be certified as conforming to the latest specifications,” said Peter Frick, managing director payment security at Netcetera. “Together with Entersekt, we deliver a PSD2-compliant, highly secure online payment process that is decidedly user friendly.”

“We were on the lookout for a reliable, technically cutting-edge 3-D Secure provider,” Christoph Thöt, Bank-Verlag’s department manager cards and payment solutions. “Our choice of Netcetera and Entersekt meant we could add to our offerings a highly effective card-not-present authentication solution. We have already successfully brought the first card portfolios onto the joint app-based, biometrics-protected solution.”

In March 2019, Entersekt added BioCatch behavioral biometrics to its mobile identity services platform.
