EyeLock and CMITech strike distribution and customization deal to expand iris biometrics offerings

EyeLock and CMITech strike distribution and customization deal to expand iris biometrics offerings

EyeLock and CMITech have announced a global partnership to expand the accessibility of iris biometrics and enable the development of interoperable EyeLock products to complement and expand the capabilities of its product line.

CMITech will leverage EyeLock’s extensive distribution network for access control solutions to target market opportunities for privacy-friendly, easy to use contactless technologies offering superior security.

“Our partnership with CMITech is a first in the biometric industry. Never have two market leaders in iris recognition joined forces to produce innovative solutions for mass deployment. With EyeLock’s extensive global distribution channel, state-of-the-art algorithms and software platform, this partnership will create greater accessibility for these technologies around the world,” says Jeff Carter, CEO of EyeLock. “CMITech’s proven track record of designing and manufacturing iris recognition cameras is a perfect complement to EyeLock’s integrated solution and leadership in core algorithm development.”

Under the agreement, EyeLock gains exclusive distribution rights for CMITech’s physical access control applications in the Americas, and non-exclusive rights throughout the rest of the world, with some exceptions. Products will be EyeLock-branded and leverage CMITech cameras with EyeLock’s iris recognition algorithm. Solutions will also be customized for compatibility with EyeLock’s EIS identity management software platform, according to the announcement.

With touchless biometrics propelled into the spotlight by COVID-19, ABI Research forecasts significant market impact, including greater adoption of iris biometrics by governments.

“We are very pleased to partner with EyeLock and combine forces in our industry. Success in the physical access control and other markets requires strong application software as well as sales channel and service support resources, which EyeLock has in abundance globally,” comments CMITech COO Phil Tusa. “This allows CMITech to concentrate our R&D resources to maintain our leadership in contactless and hands-free biometrics imaging products.”

CMITech recently launched a facial recognition system for contactless access control and time and attendance tracking.
