ID4Africa ‘Marathon of Innovations’ to highlight biometrics and digital ID developments
ID4Africa has announced an upcoming ‘Marathon of Innovations’ in digital identity and biometrics, which will be presented December 8 to 10 in a series of symposiums and virtual showroom tours.
Thousands of professionals from African governments and institutions, the digital identity and biometrics industries, civil society and the development community are expected to engage with each other online over the three days of intensive knowledge-sharing, networking, and exploration of innovations.
The event will be divided into four circuits, consisting of plenary technical sessions, an innovation showcase, an innovation zone with virtual booths for technology vendors, and a networking zone.
Six symposiums will be held for thought leaders in the digital ID space to address major topics in identification, including digital onboarding, vetting, issuance, and authentication, use cases for digital identity, safer travel, mobile ID, payment platforms and advanced biometrics. The ‘Innovation World Tour’ will broadcast live from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa to present the progress being made by developers on identity technology. Thirty-six stops are planned during the Innovation World Tour.
Each day’s activities begin at 10:00am CET (UTC +1), and registration is required.
The ID4Africa 2020 Marathon of Innovations is presented as a compliment to the ongoing livecast series the organization has been hosting, which will continue into 2021. The most recent livecast event on ‘Digital Identity for Emergency Response: Spotlight on social protection policies and practices’ was held earlier in October.
The next webinar in the series will be held on November 5, spotlighting Tanzania’s identity ecosystem.
As Official Journalist for ID4Africa, Biometric Update will provide ongoing coverage of all webinars in the series and the Marathon of Innovations.
