Okta’s customer relations not hacked, but execs probably wish it had been

There are reports that ID and access management company Okta has badly bobbled the aftermath of the latest breach it has suffered.
Okta executives have spent several days now trying to get a handle on a breach detected October 2 by a corporate customer. That customer, BeyondTrust, informed Okta after BeyondTrust staff traced it back to Okta.
Okta reportedly did not respond to the alert until October 19. BeyondTrust posted about it with a timeline for maximum clarity of what did and didn’t happen.
That might be the only thing to look worse than the fact that Okta had been breached in March and December 2022. For good measure, throw in an insider trading class action filed against the company in April 2023.
Okta posted its own notice about the latest attack October 20, explaining what it knew about how the breach occurred.
