WISeKey now on all major mobile platforms

WISeID, a biometric authentication solution for password and PIN storage, using a digital encrypted cloud safe, is now available on all major mobile operating system platforms, including iOS, Android and Windows.

The WiseID is made by Switzerland-based WISekey, a developer of specialized security and digital identification solutions.

The WiseID is an app which syncs your sensitive information to the cloud, and users can authenticate themselves using face and pattern recognition, and uses “military-grade” encryption. The app was first launched on the iOS platform, but was released for Android and Windows platforms last month.

According to the company, WiseID is also associated with Bancorp, a major player in prepaid payment cards in the United States. WISeKey has roughly 30 million users, though CEO Carlos Moreira expects that number to increase over the next year, as WISeKey is now a multi-platform application.

As competition heats up in the smartphone space, many of those involved in the biometrics community are looking to carve out their own niche using smart mobile devices. As reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, PIPA Touch, a crowd-funder startup developing small biometric fingerprint scanners to fit into specially-designed phone cases for similar purposes to the WISeID has been gaining a lot of traction recently. Additionally, Tactivo by Precise Biometrics, a hardware add-on for mobile devices that allows for fingerprint or smartcard authentication has cleared the space for a wide array of biometrics app integrations.
