Precise Biometrics launches Tactivo for Android

Precise Biometrics has officially launched its popular Tactivo mini solution for Android.

According to the company, with this launch, Precise expands its offering outside the existing iOS-based product range, as the new Tactivo supports Android and will support other operating systems as well, eventually covering most smartphones and tablets in use by government and enterprise customers.

A complementary mobile toolkit for Android has also been made available to app developers.

“We are very excited about our launch of Android products,” Thomas Marschall, CEO said. “We have, during the spring, gained a lot of positive feedback from selected partners that had availability to prototypes and the toolkit. This launch will allow us to increase our market potential as we now cover more than 90% of the Smartphones and Tablets in our focus segments.”

Reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, the Tactivo mini is also available in an iOS version, based on the new lightning connector. That iteration of the smart card reader is MFi-certified by Apple.  The Tactivo has also been given FIPS 201 certification, and upon the news, the company’s stock jumped as much as 12 percent.

Last week, Precise Biometrics signed a frame agreement with one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers for its Tactivo reader.

Showing promise for a significant financial year, the company announced a strong start to 2013, boasting impressive sales statistics for the period ending March 31, 2013, totalling US$2.53 million (SEK 16.8 million).
