Cognitec announces facial recognition SDK for Android
Cognitec’s FaceVACS facial recognition SDK is now available for Android development.
According to the company, the SDK contains all the development tools for basic face recognition functions, including enrollment, verification and identification. Additional functionality is included for finding human faces and eyes in images, tracking faces in video streams and for analyzing and checking face characteristics for biometric acquisition.
Reported previously, early this year, Cognitec added anonymous facial recognition to the FaceVACS-VideoScan system. Last year, the suite also got an algorithm update.
Though there is a lot of focus on what Apple will (or will not) do with biometrics in its upcoming iPhone, there is increasing biometric development on the Android platform.
Precise Biometrics has recently launched its Tactivo for Android
Fingerprint Cards is also an active hardware manufacturer for Android phones.
