BIO-key International gets Allscripts Pro EHR certification

BIO-key International has announced that Allscripts has certified its biometric identity management system for healthcare providers using Allscripts Professional EHR.

According to the company, Knox Community Hospital, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, is the first to incorporate the integrated solution.

Allscripts Professional provides electronic health records management for small to midsize practices and represents the largest footprint of the Allscripts EHR solution sets. Allscripts reportedly provides EHR programs to over 180,000 physicians.

BIO-key says this new Allscripts integration enhances practice workflow by reducing or eliminating the use of passwords, cards or tokens associated with accessing patient records, using a fingerprint login system. The company will be exhibiting its fingerprint authentication solutions at the Allscripts Client Experience tradeshow at the McCormick Center in Chicago, August 21-23, 2013.

“The third and most recent integration with Allscripts is important to us because the majority of Allscripts customers use Pro EHR,” Mike DePasquale, CEO of BIO-key said. “There are also indications we can launch our authentication solutions faster with Pro customers because the evaluation and decision making process is less complex.”

Reported previously, BIO-key was recently awarded the 2013 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Innovation and Leadership for its authentication technologies.
