Hoyos Labs partners with Story Worldwide to lead launch of biometrics app

Hoyos Labs announced it has hired content advertising agency Story Worldwide to spearhead the creative duties and launch of its new app, which will be released in September.

The 1U app will leverage users’ faces and biometrics, along with smartphone technology, to provide a fully-secured alternative to password-protected systems. Using a complex algorithm to distinguish the unique features of a human face, the 1U app will give users access to anything that normally requires a password, such as a website, account, door, vehicle and system.

The biometrics element of the app ensures that it will only provide access the authorized user and cannot be breached by using a photo, a video or a twin.

“By using this app, you are protecting yourself without sacrificing your convenience,” said Hoyos Labs CEO Hector Hoyos. “It will change everything, from the way we secure our devices and information, to the way we interact with our vehicles and homes.”

In addition to naming the 1U app, Story also developed the brand identity and marketing campaign, including traditional ads, banners, branded film content, and social programming.

The app uses a combination of facial and periocular identification, as well as an algorithm that identifies whether the scanned face is a living person (also referred to as the “liveness factor”), in addition to incorporating third-party biometrics solutions.

Story will also partner with New York media agency SwellShark to plan and buy all paid-media, while communications provider KCSA Strategic Communications will continue to lead Hoyos’ public relations duties.

Previously reported by BiometricUpdate.com, Hoyos Labs announced that it won a 2014 Frost & Sullivan’s 2014 North American Customer Value Leadership Award for mobile biometrics.
