PayPal adds fingerprint authentication to more Samsung devices

PayPal announced at the Samsung Unpacked Episode 2 event in Berlin, Beijing and New York that it is now allowing users to swipe their fingerprints to log in to pay with PayPal on the new Samsung Note 4 and Gear S.

Users can now login with their fingerprint to pay with PayPal as an alternative to entering a password, reinforcing its work with the Fast IDentity Online Alliance.

PayPal users can currently sign up to use fingerprint authentication on the Samsung Note 4 in 27 markets around the world, which includes over $50 worth of deals to use at select businesses that accept PayPal.

Additionally, PayPal will roll out its app on the Gear 3 in eight markets including the Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico, United States and United Kingdom.

Earlier this year, PayPal partnered with Nok Nok Labs to enable its mobile payment system NNL S3 Authentication Suite in Samsung’s Galaxy S5 smartphone with integrated fingerprint sensor.

The company also recently introduced the PayPal App for Android Wear in beta, as well as One Touch beta.
