Synaptics demonstrates fingerprint authentication solution for peripherals at Computex Taipei

Synaptics Inc. is showcasing its Natural ID biometric authentication solution for desktop PC mouse this week at Computex Taipei 2015.

The secure authentication solution for mice and keyboards enables OEMs and ODMs to deliver new and differentiated products in a highly competitive desktop PC market.

Key peripheral manufacturers LiteON, Thermaltake, SolidYear and EVGA are demonstrating Synaptics’ authentication solution at the conference and exhibition.

Synaptics Natural ID small area touch sensor solution adds fast logon and secure transaction capability to a mouse or keyboard.

“There is tremendous opportunity for PC peripherals to integrate biometric authentication as evidenced by our traction with key partners,” said Godfrey Cheng, vice president of marketing at Synaptics’ human interface systems division (HISD. “Secure logon and transactions via fingerprint on mouse or keyboard is fast, simple, foolproof and significantly safer than passwords.”

Fingerprint authentication enabled peripherals, such as mouse and keyboards, as well as the upcoming Windows Hello platform, will enable users to unlock Windows 10 devices.

Previously reported, Synaptics is positioned to benefit from the increasing adoption of biometric user authentication systems, according to a new research report helmed by Cowen analyst Robert Stone.
