MIDAS Alliance developing payment authentication pilot with UK government

The MIDAS Alliance announced at a recent Open Identity Exchange OIX UK meeting that the organization will be working with the UK government to develop a pilot that combines payments applications with the Verify identity assurance program.

As noted in its initial standards’ scoping, the MIDAS Alliance said that in order to create a pilot that will be of use in the government’s Verify program it is essential to integrate payment capabilities into the solution.

Integrating the payment capabilities between identity assurance (Verify) and SecuRePay’s strong authentication requirements (PSD2) is particularly important, said the MIDAS Alliance.

They are encouraging organizations from all sectors to attend its next public meeting in Central London on September 29 to develop an outline for the pilot as well as the scope for the wider MIDAS Alliance standard.

Previously reported, various companies in the security industry have collaborated to establish the MIDAS (Mobile Identity Authentication Standard) Alliance, in an effort to resolve potential issues caused by the European Central Bank’s (ECB) SecuRe Pay guidelines.
