Leak suggests Vivo XPlay 7 will come with under-screen fingerprint scanner

According to multiple media reports, leaked presentation pictures said to be of the Vivo XPlay 7 has revealed that it will come with the under-screen fingerprint scanner, detailing the Qualcomm-developed biometric authentication feature as one of its highlights.

Vivo along with Qualcomm first unveiled the next-generation ultrasonic fingerprint solution at Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2017 in June. The new line of fingerprint solutions include new and improved features not included in the previous generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology. These features include sensors for display, glass and metal, detection of directional gestures, and underwater fingerprint match and device wake-up.

At MWC, the companies used a modified version of the Vivo XPlay 6 smartphone to demonstrate the new fingerprint sensors for display and metal. The modified smartphone was fitted with Qualcomm’s under-display fingerprint scanner. At the time Qualcomm claimed that under-screen fingerprint scanner technology will arrive in commercial devices in the Q4 2017.

Pictures taken from a Power Point presentation and posted on Chinese site Weibo show that the smartphone features a full-screen display with minimal bezels and dual curved edges at the sides. The device also has two front-facing cameras as well as two cameras at the rear.

The Vivo XPlay 7 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and available with 6GB or 8GB of RAM.
