NEC updates facial recognition software with protection functionality

NEC has developed a new function in its Neoface Watch suite which will hide any unmatched/unknown individuals captured in any forensic material or live feed when traditional matching is performed.

The new functionality was launched at SKYDD exhibition in Stockholm by NEC Scandinavia.

“This function means that we can offer selective facial recognition to customers,” explained Benny Ekman, MD of NEC Scandinavia.

NEC Corporation President and CEO Takashi Niino recently weighed in on the topic of facial recognition regulation and urged biometric industry dialogue to responsibly protect people from discrimination, invasions of privacy, and rights violations.
