Crossmatch fingerprint tech deployed on ThinkPad T490 healthcare edition

Crossmatch, part of HID Global, announced today that its fingerprint reading technology has been deployed on the new Lenovo ThinkPad T490 Healthcare Edition.

Crossmatch’s fingerprint readers protect patient information with FIPS-201 (Federal Information Processing Standard) compliant Personal Identity Verification and are an essential component of the multi-factor authentication needed to keep patient records safe and guard device access on the ThinkPad T490 HE. The technology adds a layer of biometric identity management that protects device access, data, and online activity.

“Hospitals and other healthcare settings are fast-paced environments, harboring huge amounts of secure patient data,” explains John Hinmon, vp of marketing for Crossmatch. “Integrating Crossmatch’s fingerprint reading technology into Lenovo’s new ThinkPad lets healthcare professionals keep their data secure and control who is accessing it without slowing them down while providing care.”

Crossmatch offers a complete line of commercial fingerprint readers and modules ranging from small embeddable modules for mobile devices to large form factor USB peripheral readers for desktop applications. According to a company statement, the silicon capacitive single fingerprint line is one of Crossmatch’s most popular biometric sensors for embedded OEM applications.

In November Crossmatch supplied 150,000 optical fingerprint modules to Bangladesh for use in electronic voting machines.
