NEXT forms partnership to launch biometric card solutions in East Asia

NEXT Biometrics has signed an agreement with an East Asia-based smart card manufacturer to launch contact-based and dual interface biometric cards in the region. According to the announcement, the card manufacturer holds certifications by local and international payment brands.

“The agreement is another important step towards building a strong network with leading players in the smart card ecosystem to commercialize biometric dual interface technology in the banking sector and beyond,” explained Alain Faburel, NEXT Biometrics Chief Sales and Marketing Officer.

In recent months NEXT Biometrics has also partnered with Vietnam-based MK Group to launch an R&D program for biometric smart cards and with M-Tech Innovations to develop and deploy biometric card solutions for India.

Last month NEXT delivered on an order for 30,000 sensors from Tactilis, the second call-off under a larger purchase order for 250,000 sets of large-area fingerprint sensors and ASICs. Tactilis biometric card products feature NEXT’s fingerprint sensor technology.

NEXT Biometrics CEO Ritu Favre recently discussed the development of biometric payment cards’ technology, and the global market, with Biometric Update.
