BIO-Key partners to provide multi-factor IAM solution for U.S. DoD agency

BIO-key says it has engaged a partnership with Prominic.NET to deploy its PortalGuard Identity Access Management (IAM) solution for an agency of the United States Department of Defense (DoD).
The biometrics-powered identity and access management (IAM) company announced the partnership in a press release, explaining that that the new solution will provide enhanced user access security to the agency’s enterprise applications and data using secure smart card authentication.
According to BIO-key, its PortalGuard IAM solution is implemented on the enterprise-grade HCL Domino-based environment to support application access requirements for the DoD agency’s mission-critical environment. The company added that the new system is being deployed as a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) Identity Provider to provide Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities for the load-balanced environment.
Mark Cochran, President of BIO-key PortalGuard, expressed excitement over the selection of the company for what he called an “important DoD application environment.”
“PortalGuard delivers a complete IAM solution for both on-premises and SaaS offerings that give customers the flexibility to choose based on their application security needs and Time to Value expectations. The combination of single-sign-on and multifactor authentication capabilities allows PortalGuard to provide a higher level of configurable security to protect our customer’s critical systems and data,” said Cochran.
BIO-key said its PortalGuard platform is equally being used to configure support for authentication of Personal Identity Verification (PIV) smart card credentials to enable access to application data. Additionally, it also provides a split login experience where users without a PIV credential smart card can login manually with traditional two-factor authentication (2FA), underlining the solution’s flexible support for different user types and conditions of access.
This partnership with Prominic.NET adds up to a string of Bio-key’s access management deals for the deployment of its PortalGuard IAM. The company’s solution is currently used in many colleges, healthcare institutions and businesses across the United States.
