Pindrop to bring biometric voice authentication to TiVo for content personalization

Pindrop to bring biometric voice authentication to TiVo for content personalization

TiVo users will soon be able to Pindrop’s voice biometrics and other artificial intelligence technologies for smarter, more personalized entertainment experiences, through a new strategic global partnership.

The partnership is intended to deliver a streamlined content discovery experience based on voice AI. Prindrop’s voice authentication will be implemented in TiVo’s Conversation Services product, allowing users to interact with TiVos system for example by asking “What should I watch?” Results will be personalized based on the biometric identification of the speaker.

“Contextual awareness is key when engaging users through a Natural User Interface. Beyond just understanding what was said, we want to understand the context of the situation to drive intelligent system behavior in the moment,” says Jon Heim, senior director of Product and Conversation Services at TiVo. “The ability to distinguish between different members of a household based on their voice is an example of this contextual awareness, enabling us to provide an unprecedented level of personalization through an experience tailored to that specific person.”

The service requires users to opt in, and preserves privacy by associating users’ voices only with the profiles containing their content preferences.

Pindrop says changes in speaker’s voices due to sickness, age and mask wearing have negligible impact on the accuracy of its voice authentication systems.

“We believe that with our state-of-the-art voice authentication technology combined with TiVo’s expertise in the OTT video space, we’ll be able to unlock new experiences for consumers across the globe… and we’re just getting started,” comments Vijay Balasubramaniyan, Pindrop CEO.

The first TiVo-enabled product with Pindrop technology is expected to be announced in the coming months.
