BIO-key demonstrating mobile multifactor authentication solution

BIO-key International announced that is demonstrating the latest mobile authentication solutions this week at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain.

In addition to its own biometric solutions, BIO-key will be showcasing InterDigital’s multi-factor authentication server (MFAS) which is designed to meet consumer authentication needs for mobile network operators and other large-scale over-the-top service providers.

InterDigital‘s MFAS offers full compliance with OpenID and is also capable of leveraging Trustonic’s Global Platform compliant Trusted Execution Environment and API.

The biometric solution combines the most secure and transparent device level authentication with user-specific authentication options that benefit from BIO-key’s interoperable fingerprint matching capabilities.

The product is designed to use a range of authentication factors and includes support for FIDO authenticators, while its architecture incorporates seamless and secure device-based authentication that steers clear of device components which can be spoofed or cloned.

Once installed for use on the device, users will be able to authenticate themselves via BIO-key’s WEB-key platform by swiping on any integrated fingerprint scanner.

Service providers and users can decide whether the biometric matching occurs in the device or in the cloud, depending on their preference.

“BIO-key has formed strategic partnerships with InterDigital, IDEX, NEXT Biometrics and the major security infrastructure providers including IBM, CA and Oracle in an effort to address this challenge and to create a global ecosystem for mobile authentication,” said Mike DePasquale, chairman and CEO of BIO-key. “In conjunction with InterDigital our MFAS offering is a perfect example of a solution that can be used by any service provider to authenticate consumers or enterprise users including traditional and innovative means such as biometrics.”
