Precise Biometrics to provide Tactivo smart card readers for NHS Foundation Trust

Precise Biometrics announced it has received an order for an undisclosed number of Tactivo smart card readers from an English National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust.

Delivered as part of an integrated solution provided by Precise Biometrics´ partner Isosec Ltd, Tactivo smart card readers will be used for secure mobile access to the Trust’s healthcare systems.

Precise said the order will impact its second quarter revenues with 380,000SEK.

The Trust selected Tactivo smart card readers to enable fast and secure access to relevant patient data, reporting and information exchange on iPad and iPhone devices.

As a result, care providers will be able to spend more time with patients while ensuring instant access to patient information, which ultimately increases care quality and decreases the amount of time spent on administration.

“This order shows that the market for secure mobile authentication solutions within UK healthcare is maturing,” said Håkan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics. ”This particular Trust is known for their progressive approach to adopting new IT-solutions and we know that other Trusts will be keeping a close eye on the development of this mobility project.”

The Trust’s healthcare system is accessed through two-factor login using a smart card, Tactivo, iPad/iPhone and Isosec’s mobile authentication software.

Preivously reported, Precise Biometrics updated its Precise iOS Toolkit to enable administrators to export raw images of a user’s fingerprint from Tactivo.
