Japan grants Kyrgyzstan biometrics technology

 

Japan is donating about $6 million worth of biometric technology equipment to aid in a biometric registration project for citizens.

A law was passed in Kyrgyzstan last year for a nationwide biometric data registration program.

Included is 3,000 laptops, 3,000 fingerprint scanners, a server and networking equipment.

Vice Prime Minister Tairbek Sarpashev has also indicated that a new elections model utilizing biometric data will be tested across Kyrgyzstan throughout the month of August.
