New Vivo smartphones feature Precise Biometrics and FPC fingerprint technology

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) and Precise Biometrics are providing the fingerprint technology for the new Vivo X6S and X6S Plus smartphones.

Both devices use Fingerprint Cards’ touch fingerprint sensor FPC1035 and Precise Biometrics’ algorithm solution for fingerprint recognition in mobile devices, Precise BioMatch Mobile. The fingerprint algorithm is based on Precise Biometrics’ standardized extractor and matcher technology, which is ISO 19794-2 compliant.

Earlier this year, FPC introduced FPCLiveTouch, a security solution for fingerprint sensors that can identify and reject spoofing attempts (fake fingerprints) without requiring additional hardware and without impact on verification time. FPCLiveTouch is compatible with all touch fingerprint sensors in FPC’s product portfolio.

According to research firm Acuity Market Intelligence, more than 200 smartphones incorporating fingerprint, iris, and eye-vein biometrics been introduced since Q1 2013 under 70 brand names including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, TCL, Oppo, Vivo, and ZTE. Acuity projects that 600 million biometric smartphones are currently in use representing 28% of the global installed base.
