Moldova deploys biometric enrollment solution by Vision-Box
The Government of the Republic of Moldova is modernizing the issuance of citizen identity documents with an integrated biometric enrollment solution by Vision-Box.
The Centre for State Information Resources “Registru” (CSIR) is a state-owned enterprise that holds the exclusive rights to produce and issue identity documents to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. In 2015, CSIR announced an open tender towards updating and modernizing the identity documents issuance process across its countrywide offices for population documentation and records by implementing an integrated biometric enrollment solution.
Vision-Box won the tender and is deploying its vb e-pass desktop solution across 55 registration offices.
According to a statement by the company, the units’ automated height adjustment camera capture a fully ICAO compliant facial image of the person when the eyes are detected for perfect camera alignment, and fingerprint capture is simplified with animated instructions on the embedded LCD screen displayed to the applicant, ensuring a correct and fully NIST compliant capture the first time around. Applicants complete the process by electronically signing on the embedded pad, legally certifying the biometric capture process and as a final validation of the captured data.
The solution will integrate with CSIR infrastructure and be built upon a privacy-by-design principle, meaning a responsible protection and cross-match of information, while guaranteeing critical data through all stages leading to document production and safeguarding their population’s personal information.
Just last month, Curaçao International Airport unveiled an integrated Automated Border Control (ABC) solution by Vision-Box to expedite border control processes at both arrivals and departures.
