BISP intros biometric payments in Rahim Yar Khan
Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) launched its biometric verification system for payments in Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan, according to a report by Radio Pakistan.
The move comes nearly two months after BISP launched a biometric-based payment system for the upcoming BISP cash grant tranche in Sindh, Pakistan.
At the inauguration ceremony, chairperson BISP Marvi Memon said that the program’s key principles are transparency, service delivery and customer care.
According to Memon, the biometrics-based payment system would eliminate the middleman in payments to the rightful individuals.
She reiterated that a beneficiary must be present in order to receive payment — a guideline that would financially empower the person.
The BISP is recognized internationally for its advanced operational mechanisms and commitment to lower income individuals, Memon said.
