Eyedentify vehicle safety system leverages biometrics

Indian IoT startup Eyedentify is preparing to launch a vehicle occupant security product which leverages biometrics and applies algorithms to audio recordings to improve the safety of taxi and commercial vehicle drivers and passengers.

Authorized drivers are biometrically enrolled, and the system verifies the driver’s identity before allowing the engine to start, The Economic Times reports.

Other features include video recording and transmission, vehicle impact recognition, and strategically placed panic buttons.

The company is currently running pilot projects, and says it plans to deploy 3000 units by the end of the 2018-2019 year.

The company plans to partner with corporations, schools, fleet operators, and OEMs, and with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) mandating that public transport vehicles with more than six-seat capacity install location tracking devices, Eyedentify sees an emerging market for its vehicle safety portfolio.
