IDEX receives first production order of fingerprint sensors for biometric payment cards

IDEX Biometrics today announced the receipt of a production order of biometric fingerprint sensors for payment cards. IDEX expects to start shipping against the order in the third quarter of 2018 and expects additional orders to follow.

“We are incredibly proud to have reached this very important milestone with our strategic partner,” commented Stan Swearingen, CEO of IDEX Biometrics. “The order marks the start of the industrialization phase for biometric cards, and is the result of years of dedication and hard work and is validation of IDEX’s leadership position in this very innovative market.”

Securing a leadership position in the market for biometric cards has been one of IDEX’s top priorities, the company revealed at its annual general meeting in May.

According to IDEX’ first half 2018 report, the company anticipates volume orders of its sensors for biometric cards now that it has passed all certifications and is ready for shipments.
