GenKey has launched version 4.0 of its ABIS offering for small and large-scale biometric identification and deduplication projects, with new algorithms powering the matching engine for what the company says is its best-ever matching speed and accuracy.

Feature extraction and processing are improved in the new algorithms for lower failure-to-enroll rates, and therefore a higher number of available fingers for each subject.

“Having more information available per subject makes it possible to more accurately compare subjects leading to an overall higher accuracy in the identification and deduplication processes in ABIS,” comments GenKey Head of R&D Mark Hetherington.

The new GenKey ABIS has accuracy improved by a factor of ten over previous releases, according to the announcement, and significantly increased speed, which also means lower hardware requirements for using the ABIS with larger populations. Substantial functional upgrades have also been made, such as the new capability to replicate the internal database in real-time to make backups in systems like Postgres and Oracle without disturbing the ABIS as it runs.

“To continue creating value for our customers, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of innovation and performance,” says GenKey CEO Michiel Loeff. “This new release strengthens our reputation as the provider of an industry-leading ABIS system designed to overcome the challenges associated with various enrolment, identification, and verification processes in developing countries.”

GenKey also updated its biometric enrollment platform last year, and recently integrated Iris ID’s biometric matching engine with its ID platform for increased multimodal flexibility.
