HSBC Uruguay deploys FacePhi biometric identification technology

FacePhi has announced a new partnership with HSBC Uruguay, a subsidiary of the HSBC Group, one of the world’s largest financial and banking services organizations.

HSBC Uruguay is deploying FacePhi’s Selphi and SelphID products to enable bank customers to authenticate their identity and access their accounts via mobile and web with just a selfie. According to the announcement, the application of FacePhi facial recognition technology improves the customer’s user experience and also streamlines the identification process and services onboarding.

This new agreement increases the number of FacePhi customers to more than 30 financial institutions worldwide. The Spanish biometrics company reports more than 6 million users and carries out more than 500 million authentications through its biometrics systems.

Spanish financial services company CaixaBank recently collaborated with FacePhi and Fujitsu to introduce ATM withdrawals using facial recognition.
