Border Security 2020 announces biometrics-heavy agenda and speakers
 

Military staff, government figures, and key individuals with border security agencies from national around the world will discuss biometrics for border control at the Border Security 2020 conference, which has unveiled details of its agenda.

Industry, military, and government leaders will gather for the event, which is currently offering early bird booking until October 31.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Identity Operations Division Director Patrick Nemeth will deliver a presentation on the IDENT and HART systems, and the Director of Policy and Planning for the National Cyber Directorate of Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office Yasmin Livne will speak about Israel’s use of biometrics for border control, among the prominent sessions announced. A panel discussion on biometrics and seamless travel will include Former Chief Inspector of the UK’s Borders & Immigration service John Vine, DHS Customs and Border Protection Port Director for Miami International Airport Christopher Maston, Lufthansa Product Manager Regulatory Patrick Sgueglia, and Vancouver Airport Authority Manager for Innovative Travel Solutions (ITS) Keri Phoenix.

Other topics on the agenda include the U.S. Biometric Exit program, the role of facial recognition in international border risk management at airports, and U.S. Navy initiatives for protecting sea borders.

Vancouver Airport Authority is also the Gold Sponsor of Border Security 2020, and will present on its ITS portfolio.

The market for border and maritime security products are forecast by Frost & Sullivan to nearly double by 2028, driven by multimodal biometrics deployments.

Border Security 2020 will be held February 11 and 12, 2020 in Rome.
