FacePhi biometrics deployed to remotely contract health insurance in Argentina
Fintech-focused biometrics company FacePhi has expanded its business to the health sector with today’s announcement that Swiss Medical Group, one of the main business groups dedicated to health and insurance in Argentina, will deploy FacePhi’s SelphID facial recognition-based digital onboarding solution to enable clients to remotely contract a health plan of Swiss Medical Medina Privada with just a selfie and photograph of an identity document.
“It is a breakthrough in our business strategy, since we are entering a new sector in which we had no presence before,” says Javier Mira, FacePhi’s CEO. “The possibilities of applying biometrics are practically endless. There are many fields where this disruptive technology can be incorporated, and to which we are open and prepared to start operating in.”
FacePhi is working with its Argentine technology partner Compusistem on this project.
Mira has previously said that Argentina is “the bridgehead of its business development in Latin America.” The Spanish firm is currently working with eight banking and financial institutions in the country.
FacePhi reports more than six million users and more than 500 million authentications through its biometrics recognition technology over the last year. Digital identity expert Bianca Lopes recently joined the advisory board of FacePhi to help build up its expansion strategy.
