International Workshop on Biometrics and Forensics seeks papers for conference presentation

The 2020 International Workshop on Biometrics and Forensics (IWBF 2020) has issued a call for research papers in the areas of multimedia forensics, forensic biometrics, and forensic science to be submitted for presentation at the conference.

Organized jointly by the INESC Technology and Science (INESC TEC) and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and co-organized by The European Association for Biometrics (EAB), IWBF is a forum devoted to facilitating synergies in research and development of the field, and attracts participants from industry, research, academia, and end-users.

Papers on a variety of topics are welcomed, but some areas of special interest this year include emerging forensic biometrics and their ethical and societal implications, adversarial attacks on biometric systems and how to detect and mitigate them, explainable AI in biometric recognition and presentation attack detection, emerging threats against biometrics such as deepfake attacks and detection methods, and large-scale deployment of biometric recognition systems.

In addition to presentations, IBWF will also feature an exhibition of the latest development from the industry. Companies interested in participating can contact the conference organizers.

Submissions are due on January 10, and IWBF 2020 takes place April 29 and 30 in Porto, Portugal.

The EAB awarded three biometrics researchers, including one from NTNU, for their contributions to the field in September.
