Ping Identity shares Colorado Digital ID details as Signicat adds qualified electronic signatures

Digital identity companies continue to partner up to meet the stringent demands associated with government ID and digital transactions.

The official mobile application of the State of Colorado, myColorado, which contains the new Colorado Digital ID, is secured by identity verification from Ping Identity. The Colorado mobile Driver’s License (mDL) application is one of the first government issued digital IDs in America, according to the company announcement.

Ping Identity Channel Delivery Partner of the Year ProofID and ID DataWeb work with Ping to provide seamless registration, multi-factor authentication and image verification to secure Colorado resident’s data. The digital license is not, however, accepted yet by state police.

“The State of Colorado has a history of being forward thinking,” states Ping Identity Founder and CEO Andre Durand. “With the prevalence of smartphones and the need to provide identity security, this is absolutely the direction states and government bodies are heading towards to protect their constituents and improve efficiencies. Ping Identity is proud to be part of a project that will improve the lives and protect the data of people in our home state.”

Signicat will integrate digital signature technology from Swisscom Trust Services through a new partnership to offer the digital equivalent of a handwritten signature, with the same legal standing, meeting EU eIDAS’ standards.

Swisscom’s qualified electronic signature (QES) capability strengthens the suite of identity verification and authentication systems on the Signicat Digital Identity Platform, according to the announcement.

“Expanding our platform to cover QES enhances our ability to meet our customer’s needs for secure, regulatory-compliant digital identity services,” says Gunnar Nordseth, CEO of Signicat. “Swisscom Trust Services has convinced us with its agility and expertise to translate high legal requirements into technology. Our combined joint offerings complement each other and together we enable customers to easily further develop their business models.”

Signicat acquired electronic signature company Idfy earlier this year, after itself being acquired by Nordic Capital. The company also announced upgraded identity verification capabilities and an expanded geographic reach last month.
