Jumio’s biometric video selfie authentication solution has been recognized in the 2020 Business Intelligence Group (BIG) Innovation Award for its competence in account takeover and online fraud prevention, the company announced.

Jumio Authentication was released in 2019 and it relies on a mix of augmented intelligence, AI, machine learning, facial biometrics and certified liveness detection to prevent fraud, ensure compliance and verify user identity. The end-to-end biometric identity verification solution creates a 3D face map that verifies digital identity for online transactions.

Jumio claims its solution is a pioneer in biometrics use for identity proofing and ongoing user authentication while ensuring a seamless and frictionless user experience.

“Traditional authentication methods, such as passwords, two-factor authentication and knowledge-based authentication, should be left in the last decade,” said Robert Prigge, Jumio CEO. “Escalated fraud levels and the account takeover fraud epidemic have clearly shown that they are not secure and there is an industry need for more advanced authentication methods to safeguard our data and digital ecosystems. We’re dedicated to solving this need through Jumio Authentication, and we are honored our product was recognized for leveraging biometric authentication to fight fraud and prevent account takeover.”

To make the top 100 list in the BIG Innovation Awards, Jumio competed against organizations from all over the world.

“Innovation has become a major theme for organizations across virtually all industries and this year’s winners are a testament to the creativity, passion and perseverance of individuals worldwide,” said Maria Jimenez, chief operating officer of the Business Intelligence Group. “We are thrilled to be honoring Jumio as they are leading by example and making real progress on improving the daily lives of so many.”

In 2019, Jumio received 21 awards for innovation, cybersecurity and company growth, and was named one of Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World, a 2019 Fortress Cyber Security Award winner for Authentication and Identity, a Best Place to Work by Business Intelligence Group, the Fastest Growing Cybersecurity Company in the 2019 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, and a winner of Business Intelligence Group’s 2019 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards.
