Idex Biometrics to supply fingerprint sensors for Zwipe payment platform for new card solution

Idex Biometrics will provide its fingerprint sensor products for integration with the Zwipe Pay ONE platform to offer a complete biometric payment card system solution, through a new partnership announced by the companies.

Zwipe Pay ONE provides a technology platform based on a single-chip biometric secure element that includes the operating system and relevant proprietary software, to make what Idex Biometrics and Zwipe call a compelling offering for global card manufacturers.

“We are excited to work closely with Zwipe, a pioneer in the biometric payment card market. We believe the combination of Zwipe Pay ONE with IDEX next generation sensor has strong potential to become a market leading solution. IDEX is providing fingerprint sensors and technical expertise towards the shared goal of accelerating adoption of biometric payment cards,” comments Vincent Graziani, CEO of IDEX Biometrics.

As Zwipe Pay ONE with Idex sensors becomes available for piloting, the companies plan to formalize cross-licensing of intellectual property and a joint marketing approach, according to the announcement.

“IDEX Biometrics has developed a next-generation fingerprint sensor. We are ideally positioned to take a leading position in the biometric payments market, providing smart card manufacturers with a superior offering in terms of energy efficiency and biometric performance at industry-leading manufacturing costs,” says André Løvestam, CEO of Zwipe.

Both companies also have established partnerships with Idemia, Idex to provide biometric sensors, Zwipe to work on a platform to reduce the complexity and cost of card design.

Idex Biometrics’ technology in a card from a tier 1 payment card manufacturer has also been certified for two major payment networks.
