Acuant adds iProov’s biometric authentication, delivers identity verification for car rental operators

Acuant has integrated iProov’s biometric authentication technology to enhance its identity verification platform with online facial authentication, the company announced.

“The demand for online authentication and genuine presence assurance is growing every day,” said Acuant CEO Yossi Zekri in the announcement. “We were impressed by iProov’s innovative technology that secures and streamlines the verification process. iProov addresses the increasing threat of replay attacks and other spoofing tactics like no other solution today.”

iProov’s technology is internationally recognized for Replay Attack Detection (RAD) and Presentation Attack Detection (PAD), and the company says it holds more than 19 patents for facial authentication. Its patented, device independent Flashmark technology uses a unique one-time biometric to secure online authentication during remote onboarding, customer authentication, age verification, fraud prevention and regulatory compliance.

The technology leverages a cryptographic sequence of colors from the device screen that it projects on the individual’s face. Within seconds, a one-time code is assigned to the face imagery, making it impossible to use if stolen, intercepted, recorded or reproduced with deepfake technology, according to iProov. The system has already been used by governments and banks, and in national programs such as the British EU Settlement Scheme.

“We’re delighted to be working with Acuant,” said Andrew Bud, CEO of iProov, in a prepared statement. “As a world leader in identity management solutions, Acuant delivers trust and security to all facets of our lives. Across the world iProov is securing the link between digital identity and physical human beings. We’re excited about this partnership, which will deliver simpler, faster and safer digital identity solutions globally.”

Acuant delivers cloud-based identity verification with liveness detection for car rental operators

Acuant has also entered a partnership with Bluebird Auto Rental Systems to provide car rental operators with cloud-based biometric identity verification to streamline and secure mobile and in-store customer experience, prevent fraud and manage risk.

Bluebird customers can use multi-factor authentication on any channel thanks to Acuant’s cloud-based identity verification technology, Acuant IDscan, AssureID, FaceID and Ozone. All users have to do is submit a photo of their government ID and take a selfie with a biometric liveness test for comparison. The process takes less than 20 seconds. To secure personally identifiable information, Acuant delivers end-to-end encryption.

“We are committed to continuously improving our solutions for the benefit of our customers,” said Paolo Pannunzio, president of Bluebird Auto Rental Systems, in a separate announcement. “Our partnership with Acuant, a best in class identity solutions provider, will only help our joint customers have the best processes and best identity solution available to reduce fraud and increase profitability.”

“We build solutions that safeguard and improve consumer experiences wherever they transact with identity. This powerful combination with Bluebird is a prime example,” said Zekri. “We are always pleased to be on the good side of fraud, providing rental car locations the ability to prevent auto theft and deter criminal behavior linked to using forged IDs.”
