NEC Asia Pacific (NEC APAC) has unveiled a new biometric solution to automate check-ins and check-outs in the hospitality sector with facial recognition.

The new Mobility Unmanned Check-In Solution (MUCIS) includes NEC’s NeoFace artificial intelligence biometric engine, with algorithms recognized for high accuracy by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The solution also provides an integrated physical terminal, at which hotel guests can verify their information retrieve their booking information, collect keys and confirm check-out with a self-service process at the end of their stay.

Hospitality operations can also integrate optional enhancements to perform accurate identity verification for uses like breakfast entitlements, identification of preregistered VIPs, and access control for hotel facilities.

“Hoteliers in the region working to resume operations in the coming months face tough challenges,” comments NEC APAC Vice President Yeo Jack Ming. “NEC’s suite of cost-effective solutions can help hoteliers and businesses in the region optimise to do things better and smarter. For instance, hoteliers can seamlessly deploy MUCIS alongside our smart crowd analysis and thermal screening solutions to allow guests and hotel operators a visibility of the current crowd situation on premise at any time of the day and plan ahead while streamlining temperature checks and entry management processes.”

NEC is also working on a mobile solution for MUCIS to allow guests to perform pre check-in processes on their personal device and collect their keys on arrival.
