Zwipe and STS expand partnership for biometric payment card manufacturing

Zwipe and STS expand partnership for biometric payment card manufacturing

Smart Technology Services (STS) is one of the world’s first manufacturers to develop a system for biometric payment card milling and embedding, according to an announcement of an expanded partnership with Zwipe to support the industrialization of dual-interface cards with the Zwipe Pay ONE fingerprint-enabled payments platform.

The companies originally partnered to work on a manufacturing solution for biometric payment cards in 2018.

Under that partnership, Zwipe and STS have jointly developed integrated solutions to enable smart card manufacturers to industrialize biometric payment cards in a low-risk and agile way, the companies say.

“Zwipe has been one of the leaders in the development of biometric payment platforms while we have developed manufacturing processes to enable SCMs to successfully reach a true volume offer capability for such cards,” says Thierry Buisson, CEO of STS, in the announcement. “We have worked very closely together over the last year to fine-tune our complementary offering in order to support smart card manufacturers as they adopt and begin to roll out cards based on the Zwipe Pay ONE platform.”

“Our expanded partnership with STS has mitigated project risks and reduced the capital expenditure needed to enable the production of biometric payment cards,” states André Løvestam, CEO of Zwipe. “This will further strengthen our respective positions in the market and accelerate the adoption of biometric payment cards.”

Zwipe also recently announced a partnership with PVC materials supplier Liveo Research to support the industrialization of biometric cards with Zwipe Pay ONE.
